Seems by default you have to hold it and when you let go, you lose it. If there is no way to set an option to make that a toggle, that would be totally insane in this day in age, as it's a simple software/menu option in almost every other camera released in the last few years (SONY, Fuji, Ricoh). Especially for a camera that has a legacy in street work, I'm praying this is not something that requires I hold a tiny button while also working another button for the shutter, which may be for focus lock as I use it.

Tell me my nightmare is over, how do I set it to toggle on/off after pressing it each time?

This has been discussed extensively in other threads. You could start by reading this thread.

Stephen

Thanks but I find that thread very confusing for a simple yes/no answer. It covers more than the Q2 camera, seems to be contemplating a variety of other nuances beyond this particular point.

I take it from reading the reply on another forum that the answer is no, it's not possible currently to do this.

The answer is no. Period. It operates as you’d expect on the Q and not the Q2. Don’t ask why. No one on this forum knows or is telling. My guess is the Q2 software team started with Q code from several years back that did not include a sticky button feature. Dumb. My Canon 5D3 is perfect. I use it in continuous focus. When the button is pushed its focused. When I release the button, it locks the last focus point in. I’m good to go. My suggestion is complain to Leica. They also follow this forum so complaining here may eventually yield results.
