This is the one I use on my 006 and 007. Very good quality. It has a nice silver trim that suspends the glass above the screen, so there is no contact. The set I got has a cover for the top plate screen as well. Again, very well made and integrated with the S design. It looks like OEM. Hope this helps.

That's the one that I got for my 006. Nice and tough.

I had a weird experience with screen protectors in 2013.

During a trip to Iceland, we were near a volcano and there were some fumes but no obvious ash.

That evening I noticed that both my screen protectors were discolored and when I removed them, some of the adhesive remained behind. Suspect chemical reaction....

Sent back to Leica and both screens had to be replaced as the adhesive had bonded permanently.

Word to the wise...

Albert, sorry to hear about your experience. I suggested the item above to the OP because it rests in a frame that is suspended above the camera screen. Consequently, there is no contact, except with the camera body immediately adjacent the actual screen.

And to John, I am grateful for the screen on my M9 when it absorbed the impact of my tripod head which I had secured to my camera bag, horizontally, and carelessly swung into the camera body hung at my side. The protector shattered, leaving just the smallest divot on the camera screen which surely would have been trashed had it been struck directly.

Regards,

David

I think that the noxious sulfurous vapors made contact with the contact adhesive and some chemical reaction ensued..

Just be wary if you are doing volcano shooting!!!

I wonder, doc, what nefarious chemical process transpires in the lungs in that environment as well.

Otherwise put, "when is a Leica a canary?"
