Electronics progressed (sometimes in the wrong way for reliability), since the valves.

When I began to use electronics in my job, so long ago (same as Voyager I period) , Texas Instruments had two choices, military grade or normal grade.

Now as this link to Analog Devices article in space, challenge is tough.

Electronics can be very reliable, even in hard environment as space

Voyager I is the example of reliability ( 43 years and still working ).

I agree.  The point is that the electronics could and can be better.  My pedestrian opinion is that these problems are preventable and shameful. Do I think that what is posted here will make a difference? No.  Do I think that Leica is concerned?  I see no evidence in their digital camera past performance.  Repairs are really expensive and agonizingly slow.

As a parallel example I have used Sound Devices recording gear for years now.  They fix bugs very quickly.  Their repairs are speedy and affordable.  Their phone and email support are first class.  It is doable.

Out of topic ...

to say that the whole process is not addition of smaller bits.

Sound of vinyle.

Hunting my return to analog sound, as I have a lot of old LP vinyles, I was happy first with new turntable from Pro-Ject.

With some time passing, I've listened to "digital-age-sounding-analog", I thought that my older ears/hearing had changed.

After having purchased some old high-end turntables + cartridges with little improving in my "hearing", I waited a year or so before rehunting

better analog "sound".

For some months now, I'm happy again to learn that the "hifi gear" was not up to date, I took the plunge to replace all of my "hifi gear" with hours of listening

at local hifi old shop with passionate shop keepers.

discovering not so conventional french maker Lavandin Technologies

...discovered this turntable otherwise ...

I have had an M240 for just over 2 years and occasionally (3-4 times) the shutter has fired and sounded OK but the screen is black. It shows a shutter speed but it is a different speed from the other images taken at the same time but not so different as to cause a black screen. Annoying but not worth a repair as yet.

I have two M240s and I have had 7 shutter failures which have been replaced by Leica. This includes a swap of one camera to fix the issue. The most recent issue was a "black frame" during a sequence of photographs in December 2020.

Leica also told me that they have no issues with the shutters of the M240. Hmmm!

In saying all of this I must say that I have been extremly well looked after by Leica.

John.
