Western lowland gorillas in the Republic of Congo.  Unlike mountain gorillas, which seldom go into trees, the lowlanders spend a great deal of time in them.

Very nice. I must contradict you about Mountain Gorillas, though. Although they can be seen feeding on the ground, they spend quite some time in trees and build their nests up there as well. I saw them in Bwindi up trees over 50 % of the time. Anecdote:  in our group we had a very nice Texan gentleman who (presumably) only removed  his distinctive hat when showering. Only after a young Gorilla peed on it from a tree, could we see that he was bald, as he gave his hat to a porter.

Albert, Jack & David - Thank you.

Jaap - In the four families we saw in Bwindi and in Volcanos (two in each venue) they were usually on the ground with the exception of very the young and the "teens."  I had no idea they spent that much time in the trees.
