In a related post a member said he ordered a OP-Tech Neoprene "Rangefinder" case. Does anyone know if that specific model fits the Q2 well? Or perhaps the OP just meant one of the many neoprene cases manufactured by Op-Tech.

More broadly, does anyone who uses an Op-Tech case provide me with a specific case model for the Q2.

Thanks

Hi, I have an Op-Tech neoprene case that I now use for my Q2. I bought it at B&H in Manhattan in May for my Q and they helped me find the right model in the shop. I posted about it here a while back and included a link from the Op-Tech website but I wasn't sure that I could find exactly the same model. It isn't marked on the case itself. It has stretched to fit the Q2 with a Leica half-case (to protect the base from the scratches I had on the Q's base). I think it is a pretty protective and inexpensive solution. This model from B&H looks very much like the one I bought:

I avoid neoprene given how it holds moisture for extended period.

You raise a good point OBF. My specific use entails just using the neoprene case for transport in my backpack/carry on to the location where the photos will be taken. Any manufacturers care to make a case out of silicone or gore-tex for the Q/Q2 series:)

LOL …

I'm so risk averse that I just bought a Pelican case for air travel with my Q2. I'm not taking any chances.

In March of this year I traveled to Barcelona. When I retrieved my checked bag at my U.S. point of entry it was laying open in the baggage area with $5K U.S. of FujiFilm gear out in the open. I nearly popped a cork! At that moment I decided never again will my equipment be subjected to the chance of such treatment and exposure.

Now that is something I wouldn't do, ever. Russian roulette comes to mind...

On that trip, I was carrying a lot of gear and couldn't get it all in my carry-on bag.

I regularly travel with photo and video teams that have no choice but to check their gear; often tens of thousands of dollars worth of camera bodies, lenses, drones, etc. To date, I've never seen an issue with their checked equipment. Knock on wood.

On one occasion we had a rental van start on fire. Fortunately the crew was able to retrieve the equipment before all was lost. The van was destroyed, as you can see.

I received the Op-Tech "rangefinder " case and confirm that it is a perfect fit for both my Q-P and my Q2. Thanks for the recommedation.

I can confirm that the Op/Tech rangefinder neoprene case is too small for my Q2 with LIM's half case in place - just too tight to snap closed easily.  It is on its way back to Amazon as I write this.  I would like to know if the OP/Tech SLR Auto version is a better fit. Hopefully, Wynmia will report back...

I don't doubt the "rangefinder" size will work with the Q/Q2 without the added bulk of a half case like the LIM's.

Maybe some of those little moisture sucking pouches would help?  As long as there was no way the could break open, that would be a much bigger problem.
