nicci78 Posted July 29, 2019 Share #1  Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Brand new option for CL with firmware 3.1 : always ON touch focus. Such as found with the Q2. Is a total mess with the CL. The CL screen is to close to the palm. And it always registers new focus point at the far upper or lower right corners. Way worst than wandering focus point. It makes the CL almost unusable !  Edited July 29, 2019 by nicci78
Advertisement Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Hi nicci78, Take a look here CL FW 3.1 : Do not allowed always ON touch focus !. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ramarren Posted July 29, 2019 Share #2  Posted July 29, 2019 Can’t imagine why I’d turn on touch focus unless I was actually about to use it.
nicci78 Posted July 30, 2019 Author Share #3  Posted July 30, 2019 With Q2 when you need to touch focus. You just have to raise your finger and select a point of focus on the screen. It is fast and non obtrusive. With CL FW2.1 you have to press one function button to call focus mode menu. Then change to touch focus select only or touch focus and shoot. Then you stay always on touch focus until you change it back to anything else. It is cumbersome. With CL FW3.1 Leica brings Q2 great idea to the CL. But its screen is too close to your hand. Making always ON touch focus unusable. Very silly. Now it is even more cumbersome to activate and deactivate touch focus. Because it is now a different menu item than focus mode ! So lame.
Dave in Wales Posted July 30, 2019 Share #4  Posted July 30, 2019 Ah....I wondered why my focus point was in the top upper right corner, somewhere it's never been before, now I know..FW3.1. I've now turned TF off, never used it before anyway. ramarren Posted July 30, 2019 Share #5  Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) I see. I don't really like AF very much, use only manual focus M and R lenses anyway. Any focusing mistakes are mine... not caused by the camera. Edited July 30, 2019 by ramarren
jaapv Posted July 30, 2019 Share #6  Posted July 30, 2019 I suppose that Leica assumes that touch focus will only be used on a tripod. To be honest, I cannot think of any other use.
