james.liam Posted July 25, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I came across a lovely Nippon Kodak 50/1.4 LTM but the filter thread pitch is 0.5mm; I'm looking to use it with my Monochrom and want a yellow filter. Who made/makes these? Did Leica make them for the 50 Summilux v.1?

Peter Wright Posted July 26, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 26, 2019 This is interesting. I am looking for 43mm 0.5mm pitch filters myself - including a yellow one. I have looked on the Leica web site, but can't seem to find such a thing. Could you by any chance suggest where to get them?
lct Posted July 26, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 26, 2019 Those are second hand filters Peter, Leica does not make them anymore except perhaps an E43 UV/IR but i'm not sure of that. You should find what you need on e**y normally. Please feel free to ask if you want to know the code number of other E43 0.5mm pitch Leica filters. Frase Posted July 27, 2019 Share #7 Posted July 27, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would have thought it would be the same as the S mount version which I've had in the past, a modern 43mm hoya filter fitted just fine. Unless they changed the thread pitch just for the ltm versions ?
lct Posted July 27, 2019 Share #8 Posted July 27, 2019 The 0.5mm thread pitch was for smaller M filters i.e. E39, E41 & E43 if memory serves.
genji Posted July 29, 2019 Share #9 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) I have a Nikkor-S.C 50/1.4 lens in LTM mount and a modern 43mm B+W 010 UV Haze MRC filter fits perfectly. Edited July 29, 2019 by genji

I have attached and detached this filter multiple times as I transferred it from one lens with a 43mm 0.75 thread to another, without encountering the slightest problem or difficulty. Out of interest, I just removed the B+W 43mm 0.75 filter from a Color-Heliar 75/2.5 LTM lens and attached it to the Nikkor-S.C 50/1.4 LTM. Same story. Smooth as silk. Threads on all lenses remain in perfect condition. Edited July 31, 2019 by genji
RSS Posted July 31, 2019 Share #13 Posted July 31, 2019 I use a current 43mm B + W ND filter on a 50/1.4 Summilux whose serial number dates it to the late 1960s. The filter threads in easily and does not tighten as if the pitch was wrong. In days past I read that the newer filters are the wrong pitch for the older 50 Summiluxes. A Leica dealer talked me out of buying a new filter for my lens a few years ago.
lct Posted July 31, 2019 Share #14 Posted July 31, 2019 Perhaps the thread pitch of your B+W filter is 0.5 i don't know. What is sure is my Summilux 50/1.4 v2 has a 0.5 thread pitch and my current 0.75 filters do not thread in easily at all.
