Looks like you have negligible issues with the holder - I use the same, and thin film is always wiggling a bit in there especially if it is very flat, too. It is no issue since you simple arrange the strip inside the holder and then insert it into the scanner - it won't move! Only if you flip the holder or knock it on a hard surface, the strip will move.

I agree as well, he's expecting it needs to clamp solidly but not understanding that the holder needs to allow the film to be re-positioned when closed to allow for the difference in frame spacing between cameras. The holder has never been a problem for me when I used this scanner, it's accurate enough for doing quick test strips without repositioning the film, but when you've chosen the good images for the for the final scans you can set the final scan area accurately.
