really nice, ettiene. Personally I believe this image would work "cool" or "dark", but the sepia gives it an air of mystery. If you don't mind me asking, how did you acheive such lush sepia? I can do pretty well using duotones, but not really approach what you have here. Of course, if this is a film shot, no explanation needed :D

Excellent composition. I like the way the lines lead to the windmill. Even though it's a sometimes overused Photography 101 technique, it works well here. The sky/clouds obviously took some patience to get just the right moment. How did you get the sky contrast? I'll bet it took some channel mixing to get right.

Thank you all for looking and the very nice comments.

Yes that's right. It is my preferred technique for making B&W.

I am using an action called "Johny's B&W Package" which has a setting for sepia. It can also do the B&W conversion if you like, though I find I prefer to do it myself.

Etienne, I "Googled" for the Johnny's reference, but all I come up with is someone on another website citing Johnny's. Do you have a web address for it?

BTW, I use Channel Mixer for most of my bw conversions, but recently tried some of the new adjustments in ACR 4.1, then just de-saturated and the results were very pleasing.

Hi John,

I checked his site (Jakerlund Graphics) but it states that it will be back online soon.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this, though if I recall properly the actions is freeware. I put a zip file on one of my sites. You can download it from here:

Kind regards,

Etienne
