6-Jears old Lille "uses" my Leica M8

After receiving her first camera, a panasonic lumix, as chistmas gift last year, she started to taking pictures all day long.

Tom (7) can focus with the rangefinder and frame things well. He is intrigued by perspective and places in which light by itself makes an image, but he finds the M8 too heavy, and prefers the GX-100 which I used to capture the picture below.

She looks like she's really enjoying herself. I got my kids a set of Kodak Easy Shoots to get them started. Now my daughter (age 9) wants a CLux for her birthday!

I hope you'll be able to wipe the facepaint off of the back of your M8! :p

That M8 looks huge in the hands of an 8 year old. I can't tell but I hope the strap was around her neck. What lens is she looking at the world through? hard to tell.

Technically, she is looking through the viewfinder regardless of the lens. But I cannot make out the lens either.

I judged a photo contest at the local grammer school. I was amazed by the quality of the shots. Great! A bunch I wish I'd taken myself, but probably wouldn't have because I lack the openess of childhood.

Best,

Mitchell

I would imagine placing $8000-worth of delicate apparatus in the hands of a six year old is a true test of paternal love, but I fear were mine to drop it on the floor, I might fail said test

First a disclamer: please, do not take my rant personally.

But, reading this post I came to conclusion that this board finally "jumped the shark" (you don't know the term- do the net search). It seems that posts like this are taking this forum so close to dpreview.com and all the posts with cute dogs, cats and ...

What else we can do to be more proud of our M8?

Give it to Spot to hold the strap in his jaw when going for a afternoon walk in the park?

Come on!

I joined this forum last winter just before I decided to get M8. Since then, I find that a lot of posts wondered to this board that should end up in private albums on Flick*er or similar...
