"CONSUMMATUM" by José Manuel de Alberdi ,   (c.1947).

A rosewood carving by Spanish sculptor José Manuel de Alberdi 1922-2008 – displayed in St Martin's Church, Stamford, Lincs., UK

The artist's description translates to and reads:

"A kind of anti-war protest – the face at the moment just when Christ died on the cross – the deed is done – we have killed.

Alberdi "

A face in the crowd. 'Consummatum' translates to "It is finished"

Leica CL / TL 11-23mm;  23mm (35mm FF equiv) ISO 800 1/10sec f10 (the only lens I had with me at the time)

That is really well done. Are you shure that its not painted?

Would you like to post it in colour?

Oh, great. To me it works in color as well.

Only the woman is missing in front to be a real van Gogh.

Exactly what I thought post traiting the picture.

Anyway, failing to be Van Gogh (very easy), I settle to be Gelatino
