It's a bit important to make a clear distinction to the ASPH version. Agree with needing to be clear. I was referring to ASPH version. If I couldn’t decide between the F1 and APO, I’d split the difference and go f1.4 ASPH. You get a little flavor of both.
Advertisement Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Hi dkmoore, Take a look here 50mm Noctilux 1.0 or APO 50mm summicron ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom0511 Posted June 12, 2019 Share #22 Â Posted June 12, 2019 I find the Noctilux 1.0 to show a very special (but funky) rendering wide open and at wider f-stops. The 50 APO is much more "neutral". I would not call it clinical. For me it is a lens which "disappears" when you take an image with it. The image is about the subject, not the lens. Images with the Noctilux wide open are images of a subject with a "stamp" from the Noctilux. This can be a nice effect, but in my case I use the Summicron much more often than the Noctilux.
