Advertisement Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Hi Trev, Take a look here DIY fix for Q-P (and Possibly Q) On/Off switch problems. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

I'm glad my suggested DIY is a help. Leica engineers should have spent more time on the flawed On/Off switch instead of wasting time on nonsense like Nikki Sixx and Kravitz edition leicas.

Completely different development teams on the Q vs the M. Wouldn't change a thing. Leica is not a "six guys in the garage" company. Leica is not a "six guys in the garage" company. Not to be argumentative but the "Nikki Sixx" is a Q model. My broader point was less emphasis on Leica being a "fashion accessory" and more of a pro/enthusiasts camera.
ramarren Posted May 31, 2019 Share #26 Posted May 31, 2019 I’ve never bought a Leica as a fashion accessory. I’ve always bought them to make photographs with, both for my private and professional needs. For me, they are just good cameras that I like. I like other good cameras too. I have no problem seeing them make specials for those that want them. I still don’t think the design of specials impacts the standard production in any significant way.
codocee Posted July 11, 2019 Share #27 Posted July 11, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Doesn't work on the original Q. There is no gap between the switch and top plate. Still experimenting!

PhilipC Posted October 11, 2019 Share #29 Posted October 11, 2019 I’m new to the forum. I just bought a Q-P, and like it a lot. But I immediately noticed how easily the power switch turns on the camera, in a bag or by brushing against it. I followed suggestion of Matsaly and fitted a neoprene O-ring over it. The ring certainly stabilises the switch. But I wonder if there is a risk that the O-ring will cause stress on the physical mechanism of the switch, by repeated use of on/off. Could it eventually cause another issue by friction between the DIY rubber ring and the workings of the switch?
Ty Joubert Posted November 4, 2019 Share #30 Posted November 4, 2019 I guess the real question is why Leica does not offer to fix the switch. Like many others, I love my Q-P, but I am constantly frustrated and annoyed by the lack of control the switch should provide. I wish Leica would offer to do this. JayC Posted February 4, 2022 Share #31 Posted February 4, 2022 Reviving this very old thread. how the hell did you get such a small o ring over the power switch? Did you use a 4 prong spreader of some sort? I can’t get mine big enough.

Litorange 580PCS Silicone 45A Universal Red O-Ring Sealing Gasket. I don't have the box in front of me but if I recall the 2nd to smallest O-Ring was the perfect size. I imagine you could use the smallest size O-Ring in that box set for a more "discreet" look, but I wanted part of the O-Ring to be visible (and ready accessible) if I wanted to remove it. Matsaly Posted February 5, 2022 Author Share #33 Posted February 5, 2022 Hi, It's been a while since I did the DIY install. To date no issues whatsoever (That said I hardly ever use the Q-P since having purchased a Q2). I don't recall using any tools whatsoever. Tweezers might help. If you go back to my original posts you will see the "approximate" dimension s of the O rings I used.
