Yes for micro SD but for SD card, I don't see it. Do you?

AnikiMu

all the advice you need is in the answers on this thread.  However, google sandisk,  (sandisk eXtreme sd card), don’t bother to open articles about fake or genuine.  Safest way is to Visit your reliable camera store and ask for a 64gb Sandisk eXtreme Pro SD card or whatever size you want.

Ive been purchasing sd cards for 15 years.  I still have them all.  Of course, older cards are too slow for the latest bodies, but they DO work. I usually add one new card every year.  I only buy from an online store that I trust.   Amazon is NOT always the best place because there are some bad dealers on the Amazon UK and US sites.

I recently read a lot of messages, where "Kingston" has copies (or maybe real) and delivers s**t quality product.

Kingston do not make copies.   Kingston make millions of reliable cards.  Someone (not Kingston)  makes copies but that doesn’t mean that Kingston are s**t cards.

i was in Mexico City last month and Kingston cards are sold at very low prices in the street. The packaging is clearly poor.   Those are the ones to avoid.

only buy from established and reputable camera dealers.

I've always used Sandisk or Lexar SD cards in the past.

But, I came across this article showing the Sony cards have the fastest write speeds (not sure if this makes much difference in real world usage) - https://www.accessoriestested.com/best-memory-cards-for-leica-q2/

As stated earlier, I'm leaning towards the Sony Tough 128GB : https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Performance-Blazing-SF-G128T-T1/dp/B07H9GDFRW/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=sony+tough+sd+card&qid=1557800675&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Thank you for posting these links. I'm also going with a 64GB Sony Tough. If I like it after a few weeks I'll add a few more to the arsenal.

I just order a bunch of cheap Lexar SDXC UHS-II V60 64GB in order to transition to UHS-II only card. Both Q2 and CL are compatible with this norm.

I already used two 128GB variant of these cards.

It should work fine, I hope.

I will be totalling 656GB with 9 cards. Should be enough for holidays.

However I will not film into 4K. It will required too many storage.

I was provided Lexar SDXC UHS-II V60 128GB by the dealer when I purchased my Q2. The cards perform perfectly adequately under normal use...but with drive mode set to "superspeed" with DNG it takes 35-40 seconds to write the 14 photos, and slightly longer for 13 DNG/JPG pix. Ditto for 15 pix in low speed clocking in at about 40 sec. Lesson learned...be patient when shooting continuous mode.

i tend to get one sony tough 64gb for my Q1, and just ask do it work seamlessly? I mean no lagging when you shoot so fast made it don't write to the sd card, need to take battery out.

You don’t need this card.  It’s expensive and will not give you better results.   Perhaps you should explain to us what fast events you need to capture, or are you shooting video?

Yesterday I shot an event which featured 80 olympians from the US. There were demonstrations for Fencing, Gymnastics, Karate, and Ping Pong. I shot each demonstration in slow continuous mode. I definitely fully filled the buffer at times and had to wait a few seconds before I could take even one more photo. The Q2 does not unload the buffer very fast. My view is any of the continuous shooting modes are not for fast action situations other than one dynamic scene, ie a diver jumping off a diving board. The camera simply cannot unload the buffer to repeatedly shoot a dynamic situation one after another. It’s a disappointment, but the way it is. I use a 300 MB Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-II card. It’s not the card. It’s the camera.

I love to carry just 1,2 card in my bag and currenly in here, Vietnam. Don't have official store that you could trust to buy real SD card. So i would like to pick one great SD card that i could use for long times and reliable. That is what i though.

There’s no difference in the storage performance of a tough card.
I have found that there is a Leica boutique in Vietnam.  Search for Leica Vietnam.   Order the card from them.

(1) Why do people choose Sony Tough..?

(2) does it guarantee better photos?

(3) if it is so good, why don’t we all use them?

https://cvp.com/product/sony-sf64tg-tough-sd-card

(1) the card is physically stronger and protected when removed from the camera.

(2) absolutely not.

(3) the cost  versus benefit is very high.   Plenty of excellent cards from major manufacturers at much lower cost.

I don’t know anyone who has a Sony Tough card but there are reviews of the card on the internet.

All cards can fail.   If you only carry one card, you are taking a big risk.
you have a leica store in Vietnam.  They will post you a genuine card.  Ask them what brands they have in stock.  Don’t tell them you like to waste money🤓

Thanks Lucerne for your honestly, i ended up with a sandisk extreme Pro as you said, see how it work. Hope it well.

This card is 539.000 VND ~ 22usd.

Checked the serial in the box could active the rescue pro software, does is make sense it premium one?

Good decision. Twice the speed of anything I have.    The rear of the card should have a Printed serial number and my cards are Embossed with Made in China.

if this card produces the same problems as you had recently, then the camera is suspect.
avoid using this card in any other camera until you are completely confident that it works correctly.

good luck.

Yes, it have both serial number + made in china text

But i found out that the speed on the card wrote 170mb/s, you will need a good card reader to reach this. I've tried put in to Imac sd card slot, it just reach ~90mb/s for read/write. If i connect direct to Q1 and test, just ~15mb/s.

So the question is no matter how fast your card is, but the Q just support it limit speed when you shoot picture due to the limitation of technology?

Yes.  File Transfers to your desktop may be faster but I doubt whether your camera will write to sdcard faster.
maybe test some external card readers.  I think Sandisk produce one.
