JordanNC Posted May 1, 2019 Share #1  Posted May 1, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I plan to buy a Summicron R 50, but from the pictures I got from the seller, I am not sure what version it is because its focus ring looked thicker than I have normally seen from Cron R 50. Could someone please tell me what version the lens is. Thank you.  Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted May 1, 2019 Share #2 Â Posted May 1, 2019 Hello, have a look at Wiki : https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/50mm_f/2_Summicron-R_I Your first photo is Summicron-R first version with the add-on hood. Your second picture is definitely not of the same lens as on aperture ring, beginning at f/2.8 ( Elmarit-R 2.8/35mm ? )
Michael Geschlecht Posted May 1, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted May 1, 2019 (edited) Hello Everybody, Most likely a 35mm Elmarit, F2.8, Version I. A lens that shares a number of its external components with a 50mm Summicron. F2, Version I. And they both share the same lens hood. It might be interesting to know the serial number, minus the last 4Â digits. It might be something as simple as an incorrect ring on the front with 50mm Summicron data. Since the focusing ring & the depth of field scale are correct for a 35mm, F2.8 lens.
