hunterspoint Posted April 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) My choices for shutter type and silent mode are greyed out on the S1 and I am not sure why. i am presently in electronic shutter and get a message that the menu item can’t be changed when I try to change it . Same for silent mode - that is also greyed out Have downloaded and searched the manual, changed modes ( mostly use manual ). Removed the battery, not sure what else to try posted this also in dpreview forum
Advertisement Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Hi hunterspoint, Take a look here Electronics shutter on Panasonic S1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ingo Posted April 27, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2019 Have you selected 'Electronic Shutter' via the FN-switch? In this case the menu item is greyed out. Set the FN-switch to "1" which should solve the issue.

The 1-2 switch on the front lower left corner defaults to setting a completely silent mode. When I turned it back to 1 (it was at 2), those menu entries could be adjusted, were no longer greyed out. This was an old post (above), hope it was cleared up in the mean time.
lecycliste Posted December 18, 2021 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2021 Can also happen with the Leica SL2 in continuous very high speed mode (confusingly labeled S in the menu). I got unstuck from grayed-out (electronic) shutter selection by setting a slower burst mode or single shot.
