Yes Jon, that's exactly what I'm trying to find out. I'm not saying that I need 96mp, but curious if 24mp high-res mode of S1 looks at least as good as 47mp of S1R in my very controlled environment of a camera on a copy stand.

Hi, I've recently noticed on DP Review that they've added images for the S1 and S1R, with examples from BOTH high resolution and normal modes, under their "studio scene comparison tool".  From the exif data, they used the SL 90mm Summicron on these bodies. Both RAWs and converted JPEGS via ACR are available.

To my eyes, at what would be very large prints, the S1 (high resolution mode) and S1R (normal 47mp mode) looked very similar in terms of fine detail.

The difference -- and obvious benefit of the high resolution mode on the S1 -- was lack of moire and any false color. This is also a clear benefit of high resolution mode on the S1R vs its normal mode.

By extension, I was absolutely flabbergasted when I compared the S1R (in high resolution mode) vs. Phase One 100mp at file sizes that would represent a 65" print at 300dpi. IMHO, both of these files extended the image quality far ahead of just regular 47mp FF sensors in "normal" mode (and ahead of the 50mp MF cameras like the X1D) when it comes to massive images. That type of print size is irrelevant to many, but 65" is what I do off my 5x4" so to see what the latest "mega" high resolution sensors can now achieve is eye-opening for me.
