Paulus Posted April 17, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently saw an ad about a Leic Q which was offered as a demo with 2 years of warranty. : https://www.marktplaats.nl/a/audio-tv-en-foto/fotografie-camera-s-analoog/m1401533436-leica-q-demo-model-3499-2-jaar-garantie.html?c=3c1f5dcc18d02a99040ca8de656940d2&previousPage=lr Fact :The shop situated in Amsterdam is no Leica dealer. Fact: The dutch importer does not sell Leica to them. I informed today. In what way could this be a demo camera? If this camera is not a demo camera, but the shop says it is, would this be against the law to say it is? Btw it's very easy to check if a body is a real demo: Look at the serial number and ask Leica Wetzlar.
Advertisement Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Hi Paulus, Take a look here Is it against the law to sell a Leica demo, which is not a demo?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted April 17, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2019 Have you tried asking them? I doubt it's against the law unless there's a strict set of rules governing what is and isn't a 'demo' camera. Do they say if the warranty is Leica's or theirs? Paulus Posted April 17, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 17, 2019 (edited) The warranty is always theirs they say in their terms and conditions, they write that the warranty is always theirs. Leica says, that the warranty on their products begins when the product has been sold in a shop. The date on the bill is the date the warranty starts. If this is unknown Leica looks at the serial-number and the warranty of Leica is valid until two years after the item has made by Leica. ( Productiondate + 2 years ). So if the Q is produced two years ago, and the shopkeeper cannot produce the original bill of the camera and where it is bought, Leica will not give any warranty. If this is a legitimate demo camera or if there is a law against it? I asked the Dutch Importer Transcontineta , but they did not know and don't want to have anything to do with this shop. The shop stopped being a Leica dealer decades ago.
dau Posted April 17, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 17, 2019 Isn't this the dealer which is being discussed here:
Paulus Posted April 17, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted April 17, 2019 The question was in general, but yes, this is the shopkeeper discussed. He is definitely not a " dealer " of the Leica brand. My question is also if this behavior is noticed also in other places. It could be that this shopkeeper is the only one, but that would be a little naïve to think. jaapv Posted April 17, 2019 Share #7 Posted April 17, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) This shop does not have a good reputation in general and negative reviews on the internet. There are also some review sites that carry a number of amazingly positive reviews...
