Danno_photoguy Posted April 2, 2019 Share #1  Posted April 2, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) SORRY that I already posted about this in another thread, but am posting it was a clearer title.  CONTEXT:  I sent my CL off to Life Pixel for an IR conversion and they (being their fist CL) are having a problem taking my CL apart.  Does anyone have any advice on this or a suggestion as to who might be able to help?  THANKS Dan,
Advertisement Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Hi Danno_photoguy, Take a look here HELP: Howto take a CL apart?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted April 2, 2019 Share #2  Posted April 2, 2019 On the basis of LP's self-confessed inexperience regarding the CL camera, I suggest you look elsewhere. Search current threads in the Q forum for a similar story of camera dismantling.
Danno_photoguy Posted April 2, 2019 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 2, 2019 Thanks. Â Of the US based options I checked, none had any experience with the CL. Â Some, including LP, had experience with the TL/TL2. Â Did not find anything on first inspection, but will search deeper in the Q and other forum for any clues. Danno_photoguy Posted April 2, 2019 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 2, 2019 Do you think Leica would provide any advice? Â Is there another service provider that might? Â Just looking for options here. Â Thanks Dan
Danno_photoguy Posted April 2, 2019 Author Share #5  Posted April 2, 2019 FYI, I did call Leica NJ (had to pay for some M 6 bit coding anyway) and asked about it.  The technician was very polite, but told me that he did not know what he was free to tell me.  He is going to contact Leica HQ and will get back to me.  Will let you know what I hear.
fotografr Posted April 5, 2019 Share #6 Â Posted April 5, 2019 I had a conversation on this subject not long ago with a very well known, highly regarded technician who specializes in Leica repairs. He told me Leica are not keen on giving this kind of information out.
Danno_photoguy Posted April 5, 2019 Author Share #7 Â Posted April 5, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can understand that, but it is also a bit frustrating as a huge Leica consumer for the past 30+ years. Â I just want to use my Leica Eq to capture high quality IR images. Â Yes, I could (to some degree) use a M8, but I had hope to do better (a filter that would capture more IR) than that. fotografr Posted April 8, 2019 Share #8 Â Posted April 8, 2019 I believe the concern at Leica is that they don't want people who are not properly trained opening up camera bodies.
Marac Posted April 9, 2019 Share #9 Â Posted April 9, 2019 I had my Leica T converted here in UK at ACS Advanced Camera Services (they also done my M8), might be worth giving Neil a call and ask them?
Danno_photoguy Posted April 10, 2019 Author Share #10  Posted April 10, 2019 GOOD NEWS, my CL has been converted.  I do not have it as yet, but they tell me that they found a ‘hidden screw’.  Looking forward to getting it.
Marac Posted April 10, 2019 Share #11 Â Posted April 10, 2019 Ooooooo wonderful... I had mine done to 830, fantastic.
Danno_photoguy Posted April 10, 2019 Author Share #12 Â Posted April 10, 2019 I debated as to which filter to get. Â Although I mainly want to reproduce what I used to do with large format IR film, I went with what LifePixel call SuperColor (590nm). Â It captures a lot more light (do not loose any f stops), but requires a lot more post processing to get the BW IR look. Â They of course had the 830nm option (what they call deep BW IR), but I decided (for good or bad) to try the SuperColor. Â Will start to test it soon. Danno_photoguy Posted April 10, 2019 Author Share #13  Posted April 10, 2019 By the way, LP tell me that they do see a hot spot with my TL 35mm lens; "A mild hotspot that looked worse in color verses black and white". I believe that people who did a 830nm conversion, verses the conversion filter that I had them do, do not have a hot spot with this same lens?  Will do a bunch of testing when I get it.

Must be the filter density, mine is 830 so might not show, cannot see it being an issue with the lens at all.
Danno_photoguy Posted April 11, 2019 Author Share #15 Â Posted April 11, 2019 Yeah, will need to check it out when I get it. Â As you know, it is also impacted by aperture and I do not know what aperture he shot at. Â I love the 35 Lux TL, so I do hope that it works OK with my filter. Â We will see.
