After a few weeks of outing with M Edition 60, I am beginning to grow more attached to it. The excitement and anticipation of seeing the images is real, and the output and quality of files is never second to M10 series, except for the high ISO battle. I now prefer the colors of the M9 / M240 series. Perhaps this sub forum may not be the correct platform to post the output images, but I think the images do lend to the discussion of this gear.

More images. Another thing you guys may note is that these days, preowned regular production model M-D (Typ 262) is now going for insanely-priced levels. If you add the 35 summilux FLE, the price is almost the same as the M Edition 60 set, which is a limited edition. Hence I think it is a no-brainer to go for the latter, although an advantage of the MD is the lighter weight and the option to put on your custom straps.

@bernstein1234 I like these colours, and the subject separation you are getting using it (presumably?) wide open ...

I stick with my 50 as I like to get closer than a 35 can get on RF but I am always drawn to 35mm shots ... perhaps a 35 lux is in my future ...

Thanks @Datsch, I’ve posted 6 photos above, so I’ll name them #1 to #6.

Wide open shots are #2,3,4 and 6

F/8: #1 and 5

Yes I liked the colours too, especially during dawn and dusk times. The 35 Steelux is presumed to be made specifically for this body, there’s just this magic to this combo. Of cos perhaps a normal 35 Lux may yield the same result but at least I can be sure the lens and camera were calibrated together in the factory so they shouldn’t be too wrong.

Speaking of 50mm, I just acquired a 50mm 1.2 Light Lens Lab (LLL) in Titanium finish and I have to admit the objective is to acquire a 50mm with similar finishing as the M60 color. Superficial but the price is much affordable for me. Will post some images taken with this combo.

I recently acquired a TTartisan 28mm 5.6 Titanium finish, it matches very well with the M60!

Magic and done only like Wetzlar can.  I find the camera/lens combo to be very well adjusted and unlike my M240 body that often-times has blown highlights the M60 rarely over-exposes.  Special editions get more attention or the best workman, I don't really know.  I get more keepers from my M60 than other digital Leicas, so credit the camera because I know it's not me.

That is the best match, others get close but your combo appear to be made for each other.  It appears to be ghost edition like.

Having Strap Lugs?

Leitz / Leica, realising their unquestionable usefulness, have fitted strap-lugs as standard-practice to their camera bodies since 1933 (and they were an optional modification before that time) so why did the 'genius' behind this Audi Design project discount nigh-on a century's worth of sanity and practicality?

Words fail me. Absolutely idiotic omission. Ruined the entire concept on behalf of some utterly idiotic idea of 'Purity-of-Design' which, for a camera, could only have been dreamed-up by a non-photographer.

JIMHO, of course.

Philip.

Leica has been attempting to reinvent the lugs with the T, a design I quite liked but it didn't last, and the silicon straps were uncomfortable at best.

But, to your point, the haptic pleasure of the M60 requires no strap, I never want to put the camera down. 🙂

I can fully understand the beauty of the haptics and, I assure you most sincerely, I do hope you don't simply drop it.

I have four Leica M bodies and have never used a strap with any of them as I vastly prefer to use them ‘naked’. This suits the way I carry and use my Leicas. I highly recommend trying it at least once …

Atypical I know, but certainly wouldn’t render the absence of strap lugs an ‘idiotic omission’ or impractical in my case. Never dropped a Leica either. Have knocked a few cameras into inanimate objects while dangling off a strap, though 😒 (the camera, not me …)

Recently in Venice, after a tiring 26 hour (door to door) journey from Australia, whilst juggling to access my iPhone, I dropped both my camera and iPhone within 2 secs of each other....

Fortunately in anticipation of the  'loose fingers' in such touristy locations, the camera strap was attached to my person as was the iPhone on a lanyard also attached to myself, so neither hit the ground. I thankfully patted myself on the back for truly executing my risk analysis.

I don't think I will ever let my M10-R & 50APO go strapless.

Hi Kannan, welcome to the M60 club! unfortunately I sold it due to a chance to get the 0.95 Noctilux silver for a price I couldn’t pass up. Sold the 50 1.2 for a profit instead so you won’t go wrong with getting it. Nevertheless here’s still 1 pic of the combo before I sold the lens. Cheers.

Thanks for the compliment. Really loving this lightweight combo as if there’s a lens cap on it!

Note: the ghost-like color is due to strong sunlight. This was taken in my car. Hence what I like even more about M60 is that it behaves like a chameleon: different shades of titanium-color under various lighting conditions.

I’ve also acquired the LLL 35 8 elements in Titanium finish. Seems like these Chinese companies are going all out for aesthetics lol. I still find the 28 TT Artisans more matching than LLL offerings but under normal lighting I couldn’t really tell the difference in tone between M60 and the LLL.

The MD 262 had a very low production run.
From what I found is maximum of 1500 pieces made to attribute to its high cost…!

Maybe they assumed that this limited edition would not be used but kept as a collectible…?
