gogopix Posted July 23, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted July 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is a little detective work. This is a shot and a crop from a len and a camera. One or both are, of course LEICA! There are obvious clues in the FOV, and the crop. Â I will also share this; one of the items is OLD and you would never think this would work! Â have any ideas? gogopix Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted July 23, 2007 Well from the resolution you can estimate what the sensor is (and I can tell you it is NOT 10 MP) Â So, if it is a big sensor, how big? (should guesstimate from the relative size. Â what about the lens? Â The general category of lens was named; there are not a lot of telephotos in the M line, or are there? Â Anyway, can someone estimate the focal length from the forshortening? I will also say this was from over 100 feet away. Â The lens will give a clue as to the camera. Think flange to film distance. Â In the end, This may open up some thinking on the use of older long FL lenses with large sensors. and BTW, the crop is 100% crop actual pixels, not ressed up! jlancasterd Posted July 23, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted July 23, 2007 Leica S1 and Telyt 400, 560 or 800?
wattsy Posted July 23, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted July 23, 2007 Leica S1 and Telyt 400, 560 or 800? Â That would only be possible if the people in the shot are able to hold their poses for a minute or so (the S1 is a scanning 'back').
gogopix Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #11 Â Posted July 23, 2007 Well, the back has been guessed, but not the resolution (and no, it isnt a scanning back, unless I borrowed some figures from Madame Taussauds) Â The TYPE of leica lens, was guessed, and even the formulation, and yes, even the focal length! but too many choices from the guesses.) Â Now, for the lens, what mount! :-) Â What f number? (this would lock in the mount, I think) Â And for the camera, no way to get exactly, just say, mine was the 'two adapter' version of this set up) Â regards
sdai Posted July 23, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted July 23, 2007 So it's a P45, with a visoflex to hasselblad adapter, 280/4.8 ... 1/500 sec. ... yes I know, I can't always be right. LOL
gogopix Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #13  Posted July 23, 2007 Close, but no cigar, SDAI.  I wonder about the M mount Viso (later 6.8 and 5.6)  Fotodiox make the LTM to hasselblad and for a small fortune you can get the hasey to Contasx 645 adapter  What is interesting is that the older screw mount Visoflex lenses have a very large image circle 6x6 or even 6x7 Here, on original you CAN see a bit of vignertting with this 400mm f5  I wil have a hasselblad to Visoflex adapter made with hassey and viso mounts from an old broken Visoflex II (the Viso III has a step that actually uses usp too much of the contax flange-film to work)  In any case, may not need infinity focus for birding.  This is a much better arrangement than the 500mm f8 hassey lens. The 400mm isnt great (about 280mm 135 equivalent) but what amazed me was the resolution of the glass at the 2 1/4 in circle.  A little cumbersome but at under 1000 for the set this was an interesting, and surprisingly useful combo.  BTW. does anyone know if the M visoflex have similar large circle of image? Hard to test without the adapet.  regards
