I was shooting last night, a chorale group in tech/dress and my camera got very s-l-o-w between image captures, so I switched to another card and it worked fine.

Today I went to Thorsten von Overgaard's site to see what he had to say about this.  What a powerful aide this is to Leica photographers -- not to mention his exquisite photos.  I am using the 64gb 95 mps cards from Sandisk that he recommends.  In on of his M240 columns he discusses having to reformat sd cards when there is a problem and mentions the SDFormatter application.  I downloaded it, (completely) reformatted the card, and it works perfectly (that is, as before: nice and fast).

I shoot mostly portraits and dance photos.  The latter qualify as "action shots" and I find the M240 keeps up with my shooting flow -- the earlier digi-M versions locked up on me because the buffer was too slow.

I really like this M240 and its images.  With this card fixed up, I'm in business again.

I'll get some permission to show some of these chorale photos and will share.  Since I gave my 90mm 'chron to my son, I am shooting with the 75 'lux.  I find it pretty hard to get dead-on focus with this lens and don't use it often, but the images appeal to me. So, I'm taking my time -- maybe that will improve the photos.,

Been using SD Formatter (now SD Card Formatter) for many years. I don't even format my cards in my cameras anymore. +1 for the excellent Sandisk 64GB cards i've been using for 5 years on all my cameras.

Not saying it’s not an issue as for some it clearly is but I’ve never seen this problem occur on one of my cards, been shooting for years with SanDisk fast cards too. I do use the 32Gb ones though so maybe it doesn’t happen on those? The only time in my career have I experienced an unusually slow card (from the outset though) was when I bought one from Amazon thinking it was a bargain, it wasn’t it was a Chinese fake! Needless to say I don’t buy cards from Amazon any more.

Any hint of an card problem and I’ve had a few where data has been corrupted, I’d recover any data as best I can then destroy the card & replace with a new one.
