Two quick snapshots with my phone (switched places because of the light..), silver anodized (aluminum) on the M10-R, silver chrome (brass) on the M-A:

Some more.

If Leica was able to get the same aspect through time on different metals  surely they would do it. If they do not it's more likely that they can't.

I’m sorry and I certainly don’t mean to offend but i find this just disgusting apologist consumerist nonsense.

Let’s be honest. An M10 is a 5 figure item in my currency. Many of the major lenses produced by Leica are too. The prices for this equipment have quickly gone from stiff to another level entirely.

I’m a person of reasonable means. I have Leica equipment. I’m grateful the company still exists, I greatly enjoy using M equipment.

However, to my eye at least, items like this lens under discussion are some kind of vile jewellery for the oligarchy. There is only one purpose being served here and it is greed, nothing more.

Maybe I don’t spend enough time in Mayfair, Monte Carlo or Macau these days but ‘basic economics’ is not what any of this is. Special editions whatever, apologist bullshit.

🙄  Jeezuz!  Hold your water - it's just a lens.

If you don't like the chrome version or its price, get the black version.  Or get a Voigtlander.  Or get a pinhole body cap.  Problem solved.

Choices are always good.  If I had a chrome M camera, I would get the chrome lens.

My M10M is black (obviously) and I'm still trying to get accustomed  to the look of my chrome 35 Summicron on it.  It's actually not bad - but for some reason it looks a bit out of place or odd...

Since chickens have no colour vision, how do you know that your M10M isn't actually fluorescent pink ... ?

Pete.

Isn’t there a thread somewhere about how good silver lenses look on black bodies?

Anyway, I do like the deliberate clash of silver on black paint. :)

The silver 28 Lux on my MP Olive is a match made in heaven.

Perhaps the beauty of this combination is at least part of the reason I am in no hurry to trade off my 240 Safari set for an M10R.

This body and lens are one of Leica's most refined kits ever.

Even if it gets slightly off topic here but I certainly do love chrome lenses on black bodies. Here is a family shot from January 2020.

The color difference between chromed brass and silver anodised aluminium is there but I think it’s subtle. More obvious is the difference in weight of course.

The color difference is noticeable when a silver lens anodized alumunium is paired with a silver body, or when next to a silver brass lens.

The "panda " combo is not distasteful to me weither it's black body with a silver lens or silver body with a black lens.

Indeed it is. I find the chrome-plated brass a bit warmer, while the anodized aluminum is a bit colder in its silver tone or »shinier« like you mentioned at the beginning.
