stevegaskin Posted December 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I’d like to get a 90mm (135mm equiv’), for the CL. It will be only used occasionally so can’t justify huge expense. I have a Novaflex M adaptor. The “C’ version made for the original CL seems reasonably priced, what other lenses either Leica or non-Leica would you guys suggest? EUSe Posted December 16, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2018 A Summarit 90 mm/f2.5. I love this combo. Maybe you can get hold of a used one.
raadoo Posted December 16, 2018 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2018 I like to use All Photo Lenses for this kind of stuff. Their database is pretty extensive, though not all encompassing, so it should get you started, at least. I've set up a filter with your requirements (M mount, 90mm-ish prime), to make it a tad easier. In terms of pricing, a rough estimated list would go like this: $280 Minolta M-Rokkor 90 mm f/4 $380 Leica Elmar-C 90 mm f/ 4 $550 Konica M-Hexanon 90 mm f/2.8 $700 Leica Tele-Elmarit-M 90 mm f/2.8 $780 Leica Elmarit-M 90 mm f/2.8 $867 Carl Zeiss Tele-Tessar T* 85 mm f/4 $1410 Leica Summarit-M 90 mm f/2.5 $1599 Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trimagon 95 mm f/2.6 $1700 Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100 mm f/2.8 $3750 Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90 mm f/4 $3750 Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/2 Hope this helps! wda Posted December 16, 2018 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2018 For occasional use consider an even older 9cm Elmar, circa 1950s or 1960s. Lower cost, lovely rendering for portraits, very cost effective. Later ones will be M-mount, older ones LTM. Either can be adapted for TL.
Joeri Posted December 16, 2018 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2018 This might be the best option for you: http://joerivanderkloet.com/the-leica-90-tele-elmarit-review-a-fine-vintage-for-a-good-price/ You can get it for around 400 euros, like here: http://mkoptics.net/a/product_info.php?cPath=24_31&products_id=3697

ramarren Posted December 17, 2018 Share #9 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) I have the first generation M-Rokkor 90mm f/4, which was made in Leica's plant in Germany on the same production line as the Elmar-C 90mm f/4. It's a lovely lens: small, light, and beautiful imaging. I also have the Summicron-R 90mm f/2: definitely a bit meatier in the hand and no less lovely when it comes to imaging performance. Both of these perform very nicely on the CL. The advantage of using the M-Rokkor over it's Elmar-C cousin is easy availability of 40.5mm filters.
