Weird aperture problem - f1.7 automatically switches to f1.8

I am seeing a weird aperture problem with my Q. When I set the aperture dial to f1.7, sometimes the camera automatically switches to f1.8. If I move it backward to Automatic, it can indeed switch to f1.7, but when I move to f1.7 again it says f1.8, then the next spot is f2.0 (at dial 1.8), and f2.2 (at dial 2.0). The figures sync up at a higher f point like 4.

It doesn't always happens and ultimately come back to normal. But I can't tell the exact circumstance that this happens.

Does this happen to anyone else? If so, can you please help explain to me what functionality is this?

Try to switch fast between Macro Mode and Normal Mode several time and see if that fixes the problem.
