Thanks for your comment. Yes it is nice to contrast the old with the new but unfortunately the new is winning the battle for civic space.  So many of our historic buildings are destroyed to make way for new development. Yet Americans travel to Europe especially to marvel at the sight of its historic buildings where they are much more valued.

Nice Image. Sir Giles Gilbert Scott was extremely prolific and versatile. Thanks for posting.

  I would add to your two examples my favorites, his iconic Battersea and Bankside (now Tate Modern) Power Stations in London.
