dkCambridgeshire Posted October 7, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 7, 2018 Perhaps.... Leica 18-56 f3.5-5.6 Fuji 18-55 f2.8-4.0 But .. the Fuji 18-55 lens has 'shortcomings' e.g. focus creep. dunk
Mr.Q Posted October 8, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2018 The point is that the Fuji zoom features OIS and 4 more elements while maintaining a similar size. Not to mention that the Fuji is a 1/2 stop to a stop faster throughout it's range.
jaapv Posted October 8, 2018 Share #5 Posted October 8, 2018 Maybe - but both optical and mechanical design will be impacted by the size restriction. Those are always compromises. Sony clearly applies another balance between mechanical stability, optical quality, size and price than Leica. Which is not a bad thing, BTW; the market needs choice. For instance - less expensive optical glass can mean the need for more elements, slimming down the barrel will mean smaller diameter lenses, thus less light energy transmitted and it will lead to less robust mechanical parts, cramming more corrections in a shorter lens can lead to more CA, etc.
