You are right!
But in this lay-out it is a bit hidden.

Kisselbach (1955) has three similar full-size pages.

  • One for the Leica f series with black dial
  • One for the Leica f series with red dial
  • One for earlier Leicas (<360.000) with black dial (see image)

This table also explains why the Leica IIIf settings for electronic flash didn't work on my synchronised Leica IIIa.

For the shutter speed of 1/20 second I must use number 4 (instead of 2 for the Leica IIIf black dial).
After some failed test exposures I found this out myself as well.
But it is good to know that empirical evidence is in agreement with Leica literature!

Roland, I am, of course, more likely to have used a source in English rather than one in German. The Matheson book is very good and I can recommend it.
