rodf Posted December 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) will Leica ever make an app for android phones or do I have to buy an Apple phone to get the wifi and remote operation features of my M10
Advertisement Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Hi rodf, Take a look here Leica Fotos app - supports android - finally. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jacksonwarren86 Posted January 14, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2018 I'm an android user too and was wondering the same thing.
Tobers Posted January 14, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2018 It’s weird isn’t it. There is an Android app for the CL. Maybe they reckon M10 owners can all afford iPhone Xs so no point making an Android version.
Narsuitus Posted January 14, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2018 It is time to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy 5 Android phone. I may have to upgrade to an iPhone in order to get the M10 application.
TrickyMrT Posted January 15, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 15, 2018 The M10 Iphone app is not this great. It stucks very often and you are not able to download all images at once. If you like to download the DNG´s in full Resolution, you can came quick to the decision that it begins to become a wast of time. By the way, Leica forgot to create a desktop application too Which is in my opinion also important.
AandW Posted January 15, 2018 Share #6 Posted January 15, 2018 I use an iPhone and have found the app useful on a few occasions both as a remote trigger and to send someone a photo from my phone. Although I don’t use Android I think it is appalling that a year after the camera’s releasee there is no app for Android phones. I would also like to see a PC/Mac app. Since Leica is a small company perhaps they should be open to permitting third party development of accessories and apps. In addition to sharing development kits to connect through their wifi they could also allow third party accessories that utilize the accessory shoe. Wouldn’t be great if Thumbs Up offered a version with a fully functional accessory shoe on top or perhaps a small GPS module. Leica could meaningfully improve their customer’s experience if they opened up the Leica M10 to more accessories and apps.

Hopefully they are not to overweening and ignore customers requests. By now Leica´s performance in terms of service and a more open up system is more than poor
HELM Posted January 15, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 15, 2018 Horribly disappointing that they support other Leica cameras but not the M10 via Android apps - I was told by my Leica Store that Leica would get to it if they support iphone. Now that Leica worked on a Huawei Android phone I hope they get their collective act together My #1 disappointment with my Leica experience
FlashGordonPhotography Posted January 15, 2018 Share #9 Posted January 15, 2018 It's certainly bizarre that Leica put their name on an Android phone camera but don't produce an Android M10 app. Gordon
TrickyMrT Posted January 16, 2018 Share #10 Posted January 16, 2018 It´s making looking the phone better The CEO ", Oliver Kaltner" of Leica, has the wet dream of building it´s own Leica phone. ( read in an interview ) Can it become more worst? app for android... not with this decision makers on the top of the company. Please keep in mind, it is all about the acting persons. HELM Posted January 16, 2018 Share #12 Posted January 16, 2018 The person who owns engineering is Markus Limberger (COO). CEO above owns marketing and sales If Leica doesnt want to support their Android customers because it's to hard then open src the API's so some twenty somethings can support Leica with an APP. I bet we'd have a few choices in a weekend
marcg Posted January 17, 2018 Share #13 Posted January 17, 2018 It seems to me that by including a wireless functionality into the M10 that Leica is essentially making a commitment to all its customers that they will provide a facility to use it. At the moment that facility has not been implemented for Android owners and this effectively means that android owners of Leica M10 cameras have not been given what they paid for. I suppose this sounds a bit formal but I think that that is where we are with this.

HELM Posted January 18, 2018 Share #16 Posted January 18, 2018 Let me help Leica Product management here. Since I also own Canon - I get to use one app. Leica has a unique app per camera ... g2van Posted January 20, 2018 Share #17 Posted January 20, 2018 I have given up waiting on the Android app. I use a Toshiba Flashair WiFi SD card and its Android app to transfer photos from my M10 to my Huawei "Leica" P10 (oh the irony!). Works better than Leica app which needs to connect twice and I have to key in password each time (when I was using my iphone). The Toshiba app is faster. Downside: only kpgs are transferred and of course there is no remote control of the camera (which I have never needed). It means you must set your M10 to shoot both Raw & jpg. Not a major problem for me even with 32GB cards as I am not a machine gun shooter.
HELM Posted January 20, 2018 Share #18 Posted January 20, 2018 G2van. Sorry you had to buy an aftermarket solution for such an expensive camera (that comes with wifi) To me thats like having to buy an aftermarket radio for my Audi as they never installed one because I wear glasses (Android). People without glasses (iphone) get a free Audi radio. I would like a remote shutter release ... Leica release the API for M10 so someone else can support their users
Rollin Posted January 21, 2018 Share #19 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) According to TrickyMrT over on the M10 JPG thread (below) he says he can reprocess DNG's in the camera with the app! I might have to find a old ipod or ipad as I'm really liking the B&W the camera produces, as well sometimes the color jpgs . . . I had already posted in the german forum " JPG or DNG ". I came to the conclusion, to save your white balanced LR DNG files back to the camera card and reimport them by the leica app. This works for me like a charm.
