Letin Posted September 10, 2018 Share #1  Posted September 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all,  My main kit is the M system (film+digital). I recently picked up a CL (together with 18-56 & 60 macro) for family photos and travel, and waiting for the SL2 to come out, the SL2 would be my professional (replacing Canon 5D) and outdoor adventures weatherproof robust kit (we also have 9 months of rain).  I know the Leica systems are not designed for outdoor and astrophotography, but after taking my M10 out for hikes and outdoor photos in the past I find it'd be a waste not to use the Leica glass for that purpose.  I would only pick up 2 native lenses when the SL2's released, a 50mmSL (Summilux or summicron) + 90-280mm.  I also have the 55-135 on order for the CL, mostly because of its compact size and weight. However I'm having second thought whether I should use the money towards purchasing 90-280 instead.  Do you own both or either and what's your thoughts and applications?  Thank you! Advertisement Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Hi Letin, Take a look here Anyone owns 55-135 & or 90-280?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scott kirkpatrick Posted September 10, 2018 Share #2  Posted September 10, 2018 I have both 90-280 and 55-135, and use them on CL as well as SL. Since the CL is essentially a 1.5X extender for M and SL lenses, and both lenses are top quality, you will probably end up using both. The SL with the 90-280 is weather-invulnerable, but so heavy that I only take it out when I really need it.
Letin Posted September 10, 2018 Author Share #3 Â Posted September 10, 2018 Good points Scott. They are both such high quality glass and vary in size/weight that it makes it so hard to not get both. I was out hiking in heavy rain today and wish I had an SL with me, I didn't want to pull out the CL/M10 from my pack.

HeinzX Posted September 11, 2018 Share #5  Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) I have both - use the TL lens with the CL and the SL lens with the SL - but occasionally togehter with the CL too. Both lenses are excellent, the SL lens gives exceptional and outstanding results with the CL and in addition is it stabilized with the CL too. But it is a huge lens and is better to handle with the SL. And this combination is weather sealed, contrary to the CL. I used both with CL. 55-135 is a great lens but i prefer the stabilization and longer focal of the 90-280.
