In the beautiful Cactus Greenhouse of the Botanic Gardens of Palermo.

M + Summilux 35/1.4 Asph.

I've spent more than 2 weeks in Western Sicily, this summer, and decided to take with me one only lens and adapt to it. The lens was my preferred one, the Summilux 35/1.4 Asph, the one I will take with me in my grave like the Pharaohs did. It is an awfully beautiful lens, extremely poetic and inventive, better IMHO than the FLE, that I once had and have sold.

Traveling with one only lens and adapt the shooting to it is quite amusing and interesting. There are pictures you cannot take, this is obvious, but this force you to be very creative.

I like the approach you took of minimizing your gear. I've thought about doing the same thing with my MM and 50mm Sure asph. It clearly worked out for you. By the way, my reaction to the FLE was the same as yours. I sold it and replaced it with a 35mm Summicron, circa 1960 with goggles, and I'm much happier with it.

Brent, thank you for your replay. Of course I love to have different lenses when going to shoot, but what I really loved traveling with one only lens was the total concentration on the subject and the way I saw it through the VF. Working with a single lens transform the camera in a real tool. Whatever you want to photograph must be thought with attention and then instead of changing a lens, you move yourself and find the better vantage point to shoot. It was amusing and i really felt deep into it. I'm sure I will do it again, maybe with a 75 or a 28.
