No, mine is 222xxxx. Your number is interesting. 2166700 is usually seen as the change to v2. Is your serial number later than that?

Ernst

Yes, it is 2167089.

If you have any infos about the glass changes among the various batches late v1 and early v2s , I'm interested to learn more about these lenses !

Best, Jean-Marc.

After serial number 2166700, which is considered to be the start of v2, ELCAN changed 3 of the glass elements in the lens to Lanthanum glass, which was more exotic and had improved optical qualities.

This is possibly why v2 versions of the lens seem to be sharper and have less flare than the v1 steel rim.

What seems to be less clear is the serial numbers for v2 lenses with infinity lock, which seem to be really rare.

The rendering on that photo is amazing, especially when you think it's a 55 year old lens.  It's almost 3D.

@Steven Have you, by any chance, gave it a try on SL2s ? Would you mind showing us what the combo looks like? I am looking to get a small vintage 35 as a EDC documentary piece of glass for my birthday :).... Hesitating between taking the plunge on this an a 35 2.8.

Cheers and its good to read about so much enthusiam next to your images!

Cheers! (march 2nd, 30th 😸ahah). No need for additional pictures, your previous examples are plentiful and gorgeous (one can tell you love photographing your family and the results really are charming).

I wish to see the combo like this pic, because to see how it looks on with M adapter as an EDC :)
I had to dig really far on google images for a single image of a combo SL2+35 2.8

Incredibly sharp at f/2.8. Maybe not visible on this forum, but you can count every hair in his (her?) face.
