I've posted this elsewhere, but as it's from the first roll through my recently CLA'd 35 Summilux-M pre-asph v2 (Germany) I thought I'd post it here.  It was hazy and my local tech couldn't get the rear retaining ring off to clean the rear elements; thankfully a more competent repairer did the job and this lens went from unacceptably glowy at all apertures wider than f4 to exactly how I wanted it to be (glowy wide open, but sharp and clean stopped down).  I had been thinking of selling it on if the CLA didn't improve it noticeably, but now it's so good, I'm considering keeping it.  (A real bummer as I'm photographically happiest when I don't have to choose which lens of a given focal length to put on the front of the camera -- and my other 35 is the Nikkor 35/1.8 LTM which I'm truly loath to part with -- I guess I'm doomed to unhappiness?)

M6, 35 Summilux-M pre-asph v.2,  HP5 (box speed), in HC-110 (dil b).

CNY 2024 in Chinatown NYC.

Buddy, you should always keep the  w-nikkor 35mm 1.8 LTM. There is no other lens like it except maybe the m-hexanon UC which is also very, very rare.

Do you mean the Hexanon 35/2 with M mount? Just curious.

Nope, the UC is a different lens. Black painted over brass and built like a jewel. This is a quick and useful article about the lens and its similarity with the w-nikkor:

Apologies, this one is also posted in the main M11 thread, also wide open at 1.4 but think it would be helpful here too for those looking to get a feel for the lens (although after 117 pages you've probably got that already!)

My copy front focuses a bit and has grabby focus where racking backwards and forwards is snatchy. I'm considering getting it altered for close focus and would obviously be CLA'd then. I do worry however about lens cleaning removing the softness and glow. @JMF am I right that you had yours CLA'd, did that change it much?

To correct the front focussing will not alter the rendering . The glow and softness are inherent to the lens design.

A CLA would cure mechanical issues.

Make sure your M11 is well calibrated first ! Some M bodies straight out of the shop can be out of RF alignment.

Actually since e41 vignets on a v1, e43  is preferable even on a v2 35 Summilux .

I had such a ring fitted on a v2  :

Also asked Chris @Skyllaney to fit an e43 thread  onto another 35 v2 🙂

JMF, Can you install the OLLUX onto this adapter on the 35 lux pre-asph V2

My MP brand new out of the box had an INCREDIBLY misaligned rangefinder.

How do you add this accessory to the v2? Do you have to screw it in and does it permanently damage the lens? I’d love to get a filter instead of always using the hood but don’t wanna permanently do something that cant be undone.

May I ask you what camera you used to shoot the Laundry night shot? Thanks!

Same here. Every time (while looking via the VF) I want to quickly adjust the aperture, I end up spinning the 12504 🤣
