I’d say the titanium version from f2.8 onwards is so sharp, perhaps sharper than the cron V4 even…and f1.4 / f2 is a bit more tamed than previous Canada made versions. Might be worth trying, can’t promise you will notice a huge difference as this is all personal, but I definitely felt it.

I agree.

I had the titanium, late one, and a v2 1980, and compared to Summicron KOB , different distances,Light Situations etc.

The titanium renders white open with much less glow, you see it clearly when using Color Film.

Colors are little more saturated. More like a Summicron.

If you have a CLA´d version , all are very very sharp (tested also on the M9M)

Titanium is sharper, on par stopped down f 5,6/f8 with Summicorn ASPH

But all depends on the condition of the glas AND if focus been adjusted.

coma aberration par excellence captured wide open

Astigmatic coma at that - which is why the butterflies have such wide "wings."

"Fairy lights" are such a nice "poor man's optical bench." I'm always on the look out for them, when putting a new lens through its paces. ;)

Here is a great example of 35 lux II challenge in optical design due to the absence of aspherical lenses - coma aberration par excellence captured wide open. <snip>

Here’s another example. Personally, I like the look quite a bit.

M11 at ISO 1600 and 1/45 sec; Summilux pre-asph 35mm v.1 @f1.4 (ignore the exif data).

Flare.
Not a steel rim, but one of the last from the first production run, #2167… with the auxiliary finder for M3 (goggles). On M9, ISO 160 +1/3EV, judging by the flare polygons probably shot at F/5.6. Converted from DNG to b&w in PS.

Dear friends,

Will you compare the Lux 35 pre-asph at f1.4 with the Cron35 v4 at 2 at their minimum focus distance? A side by side comparison with the photographs will be greatly appreciated..

I just try to understand their 'character'  at their minimum focus distance and f-stop.
