pgh Posted August 15, 2018 Share #21 Posted August 15, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not sure the majority of the market is as hung up on full frame. Personally I tend to look at image quality in such decisions - and the CL is fully equivalent to M10 and SL. This is all pretty true, but then so is the Fuji X and Sony APS-C options....so you're back into paying a luxury tax for.... You pay it with the M, but you also don't really have a choice if you're using it for the reasons that people would generally use an M for/find reasonable justification for purchasing. Advertisement Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Hi pgh, Take a look here Very interesting discussion about CL vs M10 in the CL Forum. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 15, 2018 Share #22 Posted August 15, 2018 At the moment I have just four reasons for using an M camera: 1. I want to shoot wideangle under 28 mm equ. 2. I want to use my Monochrom 3. I am in a mood to take the M9 for a spin. 4. I want to shoot film and take my M6 For the rest - nothing... The only reason related to the (originally Canon) full-frame marketing spin would be #
Ko.Fe. Posted August 15, 2018 Share #23 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) Sure where are CL fans who would downplay M. Small size and AF are good factors for it. But CL is absolutely nothing special, common, EVF, crop sensor camera. In fact it is one of the least developed one. Does it have in body image stabilizing? The amount of available native lenses for it is next to none. Something like three and so-so. IMO, using FF MF massively available lenses on any crop sensors sucks. I'd rather get Pen F with its native Leica AF lenses and Oly great lenses with Leica like manual focus, including focus and DOF scales. Leica CL lenses are too few and far behind from it. HeinzX Posted August 15, 2018 Share #24 Posted August 15, 2018 For a stand alone system the CL is a good solution , if focal lengths between 18 mm and 200 mm (full format) are used. The Ms are mainly used with focal lengths beetween 18 mm and 90 mm. And if no very fast lenses are required. I do not think that adapting M lenses is the best solution, because of the crop factor and the loss of autofocus. But anyway it is a great camera, esp. in combination with a SL.
jaapv Posted August 15, 2018 Share #25 Posted August 15, 2018 Some M lenses are more than excellent on the CL - the Summilux 24 is a prime example. I'm convinced it outperforms the Summilux 35 on the M10.

Jaap, somehow I find that very hard to believe but would love to see a comparison between these two - you are welcome to prove me wrong ;-) Also just making sure, you are talking about the the latest FLE version correct?
