AtwoodFest is an annual music festival held the last weekend of July just a few blocks from my house. The guitar player is the legendary Chicago blues guitarist Paul Flipowicz. He was being photographed by two Leica shooters, neither of whom I knew. I've never seen that many Leicas being used to shoot an event in my city. The other shots are all self explanatory. Everything was shot with the CL and various lenses.

It seems me the Paul's guitar is slightly ...brassed, original or "special edition" ? Just kidding!

Nice photos, it seems the CL in your hands makes a good work in the events.

A fun and lovely set - #5 is my favorite.  The amount of wear above the pick guard and on the fret board on Paul's guitar is amazing.  It has also been set down hard quite a few times.

Snapshots, nothing else.

I'm not so sure about that.

The hallmark of an interesting picture is action. People engaged. People dancing. People playing the guitar. I find plenty of these qualities in the photos; certainly not every one, but for the most part dynamism and movement are prevalent.

Brent hardly needs me to defend his pictures, far from it; but I think maybe you've gone a step too far in criticism.

Yes, in your definition the pictures we are talking about are photography. They could be newspaper or facebook illustrations. I, on the other hand, was talking about, am looking for an aspiring to photographic art or even art driven documentary photography. That will make pictures interesting. In the fields of literature, visual arts, theatre, everywhere there are plenty miserable examples of repeated failures, while great authors always find issues with their own work and criticize it. Science and art always aspire to high SNR (signal–to-noise ratio) which is rathe low in these shots. Jedem das Seine.

These were never intended to be "high art." They are simply fun photos of a fun event. Some of us like to have fun occasionally. You should try it sometime. The shots of the guys with the Leicas were included simply as a point of interest because it's rather a rarity to see in these situations.

Meanwhile, I eagerly await your image posts that will raise the bar and stagger photo historians.

Cheers!
