Any reason not to buy used M246 without original base plate?

I have an opportunity to purchase a near mint M246 that has the Leica accessory grip but not the original base plate. The price is reasonable. But I am wondering if the missing base plate will reduce the desirability of the camera if and when I want to sell it.

I get that, but what you seem to be saying is that the absence of the base plate lowers the value more than the accessory grip increases it for most potential buyers. Is that right?

I have no idea what others think about used gear. The market, at the time, generally decides. But it only takes one willing buyer.... like you.

 

Personally, I only buy from reputable dealers, with warranty, and typically sell or trade the same way. I don’t use a grip, and would never consider a camera without a base plate. So your future audience is limited by at least one.

Actually, I like a grip, because I have arthritis in my right thumb, and a grip relieves some of the stress on the joint.

Then I think you’ve answered your own question. If the price is right and the camera is in good condition and you like this gripped base plate, then what’s your concern?
