It’s not cynical to strike on a bank holiday. It’s cost effective.

I'm not sure how you work that out.  The people who are striking don't get paid so it's hardly cost effective for them and the train operating company loses revenue from tickets they can't sell on trains services that don't run so it's not cost effective for them either.

If you withdraw your labour when nobody wants your services then your point will not be noticed. If you do so at a time of maximum demand then you don’t need to do it so often to have a large impact.

Which is, of course, exactly what was meant by "cynical".

We're 99% sure of being there after all, providing those Yorkshire men don't find out we're Lancastrians and we survive Friday night in a Premier Inn in Castleford. Don't ask  ;)  :p

Looking forward to catching up with everyone on Saturday.

Hmm ... I'm not sure of the particular reason but the National Rail website is warning that trains on Saturday from London to York will be rammed-full but I'll do my best to a) get to York and B) not be late.
