The UPS man just rang at the door with the Nocti. No prior notice about shipping. Ordered it early March, got confirmtion from Solms in April, send several email inquiries with no definite answer about shipment. But its here and I can't wait to put it on the M8. It is serial no. 39xxxxx, so must be old stock.

Someone else just put their newly-arrived 30% off Noctilux on Ebay so it I imagine there are now more trickling out of Solms.

I wonder if there will be a collapse in Noctilux prices from people who did not really want them and bought them with their 30% discount just to resell. If the 75 Lux had still been available to order, I would guess we would have seen the same thing there. It must be a bit sickening for Leica to see this, when they thought they were providing a service to M8 users. I hope these people get their fingers burnt.

Well, I don't feel sorry for Leica. I don't think they were trying to "provide a service" for m8 users, they were offering something to make up for a really inconvenient flaw in the m8. But I ordered the Nocti after learning of the price increase because I knew it was "now or never" to buy the lens. I am glad they are shipping. You sure won't see mine on ebay!

The warranty is not included when re-selling, so they won't get full price. The highest price I have seen for a Noctilux without warranty was €2650 or so, leaving the earnings pretty minimal on a €2450 lens. I am going to keep mine.

Stefan did ask me how many would sell there Nocti's when they get them . I said maybe as much as 50 percent and he just thought it was a shame one because they thought it was nice for the early adopters as there gift to them and second that there letting go a great lens. Folks will try to make some money and not much anyone can do about that and they certainly have that right to do that. On a personal level , leica did the right thing with the vouchers and for us early adopters it is something to look forward to is saving some money on a new lens from leica and for a lot of folks there only new lens because many of us including myself have bought some used. Always nice to have a shiney new toy in the bag. LOL

Well, icing on the cake is that it focuses properly. Not selling this toy.

ps, NJ also told me they will provide 2 free coding vouchers even after the 6-30 deadline since lens was ordered way before that.

Guy,

Did Stefan give any indication as to how many Nocti's had been ordered and therefore how many might be coming on the market. I would have thought the market would have become saturated fairly quickly. How many M aficionados don't already have a Nocti and of those who don't, how many want one - not that many. I have lusted after a Nocti since they replaced the 1.2 with the 1.0. I had hoped mine would arrive back today from re-service, having been sent to dispatch Wednesday but no luck. No Voigtlander 35/1.2 either - damn French post!

I have high hopes for my Noctilux apart from the focusing. Somehow even though I've said if it didn't have the look I was after I'd pass it on, I doubt I'd follow through on that statement. Apart from buying 2nd hand, current new prices would make this a once in a lifetime purchase and I'm sure I'll find some use for it. Now if I could only get the darn thing.....they are shipping March orders....so I might be in luck (debt) soon, LOL.

All he said was large orders on you guessed it. Nocti, Wate and the 28 2.8 but from what i saw they are going at it at a nice clip. i think they will over estimate but deliver sooner.

I used my 30% discount letter for a Summilux 75mm. I will keep it, and I am using it, and happy !!

Ruben,

From other posts, I thought the 75 Lux was out of production - is that not the case? The reason someone else quoted was a shortage of the glass required for one or more elements.

Depending on where the 30% off lens comes from, Solms directly or from Leica NJ USA, I would think if it came from Leica NJ USA it would have a USA warranty card included. To get the 2 vouchers for free coding you have to send the warranty card into Leica NJ and then they send out the vouchers for the free coding. This offer was good until 6/30/07 with the purchase of a new lens from a authorized dealer, can't more authorized then directly from Leica USA.

If the lens came from Solms then it more then likely didn't include a USA warranty card and Leica USA has no idea that lens is even in the USA so NO vouchers.

Ed you touched on a good point. I honestly don't know where they come in from.My guess is it goes from Solms to NJ like everything else than gets sent to the proper folks. If you folks want wirte up the question and i can ask for the details exactly from NJ. Christian is in and just recieved a e-mail from him on something else. So maybe i can get a quick reply

Well I think originally Leica AG Solms was going to ship all 30% off lenses out directly from Germany. But then decided to let at least Leica USA handle all the USA 30% off lenses so you could have a USA passport warranty with it and for the fact that the tax/VAT (whatever it is) Leica AG was paying on shipping direct to customers that they may not have to pay when shipping to a subsidiary made them go this route. Not sure what they are doing in other areas of the world.

My Noctilux is from Leica USA with the 3 year Passport, so I expect to get the coding vouchers after I send in the warranty card.
