StS Posted June 10, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted June 10, 2018 Thanks a lot, Mark, Jacques and Stuart. According to this source, the boiler pressure was 425 pound-force per square inch, translating to 29,3 bar. Each of the propeller shafts has/had one high-pressure, two intermediate-pressure and one low-pressure turbine and condenser. This comparison between the Queen Mary and the Queen Mary 2 could also be interesting. Maybe most striking is the fuel economy, where the current ship in service is three times more efficient while producing almost the same power to carry almost twice the tonnage. Maybe I'll use the QM2 occasionally to travel to New York occasionally. Apart from less cramped travelling, there is no chance of missing the connection flight, she does a few direct passages from/to my hometown. StS Posted June 11, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted June 11, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Graham, I couldn't get rid of the window-reflections, but the homepage of the ship got a better view from inside. The equipment is still used by radio amateurs in Long Beach. Hello Jaques, I'm happy to hear I could offer further information. Stefan
