joonas Posted June 9, 2018 Share #1 Â Posted June 9, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) In general where's the best place online or offline to sell well kept Leica cameras and lenses? I have SL, 24-90, 90-280, 50SL and Q with extra batteries, tripod and filters. Â I'm traveling too much to be able to enjoy them and feel guilt for them just waiting for me at home. They are great cameras and I'd feel better if they got the love they deserve. I'll buy a Leica again when I have time to enjoy taking photos. Â Thank you in advance! Advertisement Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Hi joonas, Take a look here Where to sell Leica SL + lenses and Q?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adamquesada Posted June 9, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted June 9, 2018 Personally I sell most of my stuff on amazon, also I just purchased a used SL from an amazon seller. However the easiest thing is to sell back to a store, for example Leica Store Miami buys back used equipment.
dancook Posted June 9, 2018 Share #3  Posted June 9, 2018 I sold a lot of my Leica SL/Q and lenses through ebay, I wait for the £1/£3 max selling fee days - I get offers by email.  I also advertised on Facebook, my M10 was bought by someone who saw it in this facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/164092747262468/
Jeff S Posted June 9, 2018 Share #4  Posted June 9, 2018 You could list it on the forum Buy/Sell, or my preference, sell through a respected Leica dealer that handles all the marketing and offers dealer warranty. Popflash gives back 80% of sales price and will list on their site as well as eBay (generally at a higher price to cover fees).  https://www.popflash.com/sell-your-gear  Jeff
gbealnz Posted June 9, 2018 Share #5 Â Posted June 9, 2018 All good advice, but it would be easier if we knew where you were located. Popflash and Leica Miami are excellent, there are others too, but less simple if you are in the UK, where Ffordes or many of the UK dealers are. Why not try a for sale in the classifieds of this forum? Gary
Jeff S Posted June 9, 2018 Share #6 Â Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) Forum Buy/Sell noted above, Gary. Popflash was an example of using a suggested reputable Leica dealer. Â Jeff Edited June 9, 2018 by Jeff S
trickness Posted June 10, 2018 Share #7  Posted June 10, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Got to say my experience trying to sell a lens on the forum here was a complete waste of time and money. Was selling a perfect new 35 summicron in silver with box & papers for well below market value, and didn’t even get a single inquiry. That said I did market US sales only which I’m sure hurt the potential customer base... but I have had good luck on the Leica classifieds on Facebook as well as eBay. Obviously the best thing to do is a private sale to somebody you know or a hand to hand transaction. Edited June 10, 2018 by trickness
geetee1972 Posted June 10, 2018 Share #8 Â Posted June 10, 2018 Unequivocally, the place where you will maximise your sale price is eBay, but that is reflected in the fees they also charge. Â The best way is to sell privately but you need to get very lucky doing that. Selling to a shop will give you the easiest transaction but the worst price. Shops need to make at leasat 50% buyer's margin so will buy from you at the sale price less that.
StevieB Posted June 10, 2018 Share #9 Â Posted June 10, 2018 Red Dot London are very good to deal with and their commission rate is not too bad. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
peggers Posted June 10, 2018 Share #10 Â Posted June 10, 2018 If you are in the UK I can also attest to Red Dot Camera. Also send me a message as I would be interested in the 90-280. Â Phil
thighslapper Posted June 12, 2018 Share #11  Posted June 12, 2018 (edited) I’ve been very pleased with the prices I have got from eBay...... even factoring in the criminal fees for eBay and PayPal.  Selling in a week and getting your cash securely and quickly after has significant appeal.  I’ve had a couple of buyers who strung me along or just refused to pay .... but these days I just report them as non-payers and re-list as soon as possible.  Far better than waiting weeks fishing on the Leica Forum without a bite, or selling on commission where you may have to wait months till it sells ...... if ever ..... Jeff S Posted June 12, 2018 Share #12  Posted June 12, 2018 Never waited more than a few weeks using Popflash, with 80% return on my preferred pricing. It used to be 85% if sold within 2 weeks, but they’ve eliminated the sliding scale. I like sending and forgetting, even after purchase, with check in the mail. Although I don’t buy or sell frequently.  Jeff

Donzo98 Posted June 12, 2018 Share #14 Â Posted June 12, 2018 If you are in the USA... I highly recommend FredMiranda.com. Super high turnover with tons of traffic. Best buy/sell on the internet for camera gear. Cost is 15.00/year. Great feedback system with reliable buyers/sellers.

It's very good for odd items also, as I sold a Hawk's helicoid for a Contax G 21mm to M conversion recently.
