Daniel303 Posted May 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Still in love with my M3 but processing film feels more and more taxing as the years pass. I have been unable to find clean and clear answers to my question: can I use my old Summilux 50/f1.4, Summaron 35/f2.8 and newer Voigtländer 21/f4 on a Monochrom body? The switch is tenting but as I work mostly on a volunteer basis these days and cost is an issue.
Advertisement Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Hi Daniel303, Take a look here Monochrom-compatible lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pico Posted May 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2018 (edited) Welcome! You should find everything in the instructions. Leica's Monochrome manual page here. • The following models cannot be used:– Hologon 15mm f/8– Summicron 50mm f/2 with close up attachment.– Elmar 90mm f/4 with retractable tube (manufactured from1954-1968)– Some versions of the Summilux-M 1.4/35mm (not aspherical, manufactured from 1961-1995, Made in Canada) cannot bemounted to the camera or will not focus to infi nity. The LeicaCustomer Care department can modify these lenses so thatthey can be used on the camera.• The following can be used, but risks damaging the camera or thelens:Lenses with retractable tube can only be used with the tubeextended, i.e. their tube must never be retracted into thecamera. This is not the case with the current Macro-Elmar-M1:4/90mm, as its tube does not protrude into the camera bodyeven when retracted. It can therefore be used without anyrestrictions. a.noctilux Posted May 20, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2018 (edited) Daniel, Your three lenses would work on a Monochrom CCD or M246 . Even if your Summaron 2.8/35mm for M3 (with goggles) just as with your M3 now. Manual for M246: http://us.leica-camera.com/Service-Support/Support/Downloads?category=&subcategory=124179&type=93705&language=all and first version Monochrom :http://us.leica-camera.com/Service-Support/Support/Downloads?category=&subcategory=93712&type=93705&language=all ... edit: Sorry pico Edited May 20, 2018 by a.noctilux
Daniel303 Posted May 21, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted May 21, 2018 I should have thought of that. As Agnes Allen said: "When all else fails, read the instructions"
