Hi all,

I just bought a thumb grip for my Leica D-Lux 109. Its locking system to the hot shoe uses the hex screw.

When the grip was set and tight, I saw there's something wrong within the hot shoe area, it seemed the hot shoe was damaged, it was bent. I should've put too much force when I was tightening it up.

Since I never use the external flash, do you think I will have any problem with it?

Do you think it will affect the image quality?

Looking forward to hearing any comments from you guys! Thank you in advance.

Sight unseen I cannot tell for certain, but I doubt it will impact image quality.  I wrote "sight unseen" since I cannot see the images.  Please post them again, but be certain to post them here rather than using links which are not working (it's not unusual for links to fail, sometimes not right away, so I always encourage members to post directly here.)

No, it won't affect image quality, but if you continue to use this contraption you might tear the whole hot shoe out. As that will damage the flex leading to it, it will brick the camera.

The hot shoe is fixed by four small screws and it looks like at least the rear left one, and likely the others, has been pulled through its thread.

Normally a thumbs-up will not damage the hot shoe of the camera to this extent, but it appears that it has been severely overtightened.
