james.liam Posted May 3, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 3, 2018 Ooops! Time to update! I believe that last update only added the 28 Summaron and Summilux (and perhaps secretly, the 75 Noctilux).
colint544 Posted May 4, 2018 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2018 Can a nice member of the forum explain to me where I'm going wrong? I've downloaded the update from the Leica support page but, on my Mac, it just opens up as a pdf, there doesn't seem to be any file to unzip.. colint544 Posted May 4, 2018 Share #7 Posted May 4, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Colin Go to the Leica UK site and select support. Navigate through to the firmware download page. The ZIP file that you need is the very BOTTOM file on the page every other one is a PDF telling you how to install the ZIP. The update is Version 8 - 2014. Regards Paul Mac Very kind, thank you very much. Got that, and it's ready on the desktop. Just one thing - isn't this quite an old update - says 2014? My M Mono had the new corrosion-proof sensor fitted two years ago, and the factory updated the firmware to 1.010. I haven't updated the firmware since. Isn't 1.010 a more recent upgrade than 1.008? Or am I just being incredibly stupid?
colint544 Posted May 4, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 4, 2018 Thank you, Paul. It must be the latest version, because it adds two new Leica lenses to the list that the camera can code read. Best wishes, and many thanks for your help. Colin

colint544 Posted May 4, 2018 Share #10 Posted May 4, 2018 Well, you can always hope. The one thing my M Mono has done from day one, is very occasionally freeze up. Switching it on and off sometimes cures it, but pulling the battery works every time. I used to have this hope that each firmware upgrade would address this, but it never has. Nearly six years I've had the camera now, and I've come to regard this 'characteristic' as an endearing quirk. Such is the seductive charm of the Leica, on me at any rate, that I forgive it. https://www.instagram.com/colintempleton/

Nearly six years I've had the camera now, and I've come to regard this 'characteristic' as an endearing quirk. Such is the seductive charm of the Leica, on me at any rate, that I forgive it. https://www.instagram.com/colintempleton/ Yep, I got a ‘mint’ MM a few months ago after a new sensor and service from Germany (with FW 1.016 installed). This past weekend it froze for the first time and required a couple of battery removals before it came back to life. I noticed that some of my settings changed as a result, but far worse, all the pics I took before the freeze didn’t appear when importing to LR on my Mac. I didn’t try any recovery software, as this was a casual shoot, but I was bummed. I checked the forum afterwards and found a number of threads discussing this issue on M9 based cameras. I skipped from the M8.2 to the M240 (and now M10), so this experience personalized what I now recall reading about the M9s. I will try new batteries and SD cards since some have avoided freezes that way, but others have been less successful. I wouldn’t be terribly troubled if I hadn’t lost pics, given the special files. The presumed latest FW (at the time) didn’t resolve the issue(s). Jeff
leicaminox8x11 Posted February 9 Share #12 Posted February 9 I have a used Leica M Monochrome (M9) , which has 1.016 firmware. Given that Leica have stopped supporting this camera (launched 2012, price a cool $7,950.00), does anyone know where to download 1.022? i do not mind Leica stopping support and servicing of the M9M but removing a web site download is a bit niggardly, even for them. Robinyuill Posted February 13 Share #14 Posted February 13 Hi folks. Just got a M9M second hand with 1.016 firmware and noted this thread. Looked at this Red Dot Forum list but the link only opens up a page with no firmware download. Still waiting for an answer from customer services for update. I don't have the lenses that it seems to cover so don't know if it's worthwhile chasing the update firmware update. Any info accepted. Thanks.
