Turn the camera on outside and leave it on for a while when walking around.

It takes a while on the first lock on and then it becomes faster.

Give it a try and let us know how it progresses.

in the menu gps is on but grayed out, i can not change it.

is this normal?  i don't know if its the grip or the camera ?

The only other thing I can think of I’d the grip is not seated all the way and the contacts are not touching.

Before you go through that......take one last try:

Set camera auto off to off.

Turn GPS on in the menu.

Mount the grip snugly.

Go outside with camera on for half an hour and see if it pops up.

If your M240 doesn't allow you to select GPS 'on' in the menu as soon as it is attached then there is a connection problem.

Walking around for an hour maybe good for you but it won't cure the problem.

There are male and female connections. Check if there is anything in the way. Any tiny piece of dirt could cause a short circuit.

I'd use a rocket blower or a vacuum cleaner nozzle to make sure everything is clear.
