ymc226 Posted April 14, 2018 Share #1 Â Posted April 14, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want to use the original rectangular metal hood of the 18 SEM with a protective filter and it seems the Leica 13422 filter which directly screws into the lens (as the front element protrudes past the distal lens frame) is the only filter that can be used in this respect. Â There is a larger 77mm filter adapter for the 18 SEM but it has vents that allow dust to enter and makes the lens much larger. Â Â Will there be color shifts when using the IR filter on the CMOS sensor of the M10 or M240? Â I've read that it can cause color shifts in the periphery of the CCD M9. Advertisement Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Hi ymc226, Take a look here Problematic using an IR filter on 18 SEM on M10?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted April 14, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted April 14, 2018 Well, it is crazily expensive and quite likely to cause Cyan drift in the corners -which has nothing to do with CMos or CCD, BTW. If you buy it it would be wise to replace the glass by one from a suitable 007 donor filter.
ymc226 Posted April 14, 2018 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 14, 2018 Thanks Jaap, Â I am in the US and was thinking of using SK Grimes to replace the IR filter with regular UV glass from a donor B+W filter. Â Anyone in the US recommend another company for this small project?
jaapv Posted April 15, 2018 Share #4 Â Posted April 15, 2018 TBH, swapping out the glass of a filter is hardly a job for a repair shop. It is about the simplest photographic DIY around.
