I been looking for a 28mm for my M8 too. When I got the camera I went for a 35mm Zeiss ZM which is very good but now I regret not getting the 28 in the first place. I guess the 28mm ZM is also a very competent lens.

I added a 28/f2 Ultron as my only lens for the M8 and i am very happy with it. Did not notice any focus shift.

 

I also like to use it on my Sonys as a tiny little 28mm.

Voigtlander 28mm f/1.9- Love it's rendering at f/1.9 on the M8. Found one for $275 used. Paint wear but perfect glass and hood.

I am getting the Zeiss 28/2.8 this week. Currently I am using the Zeiss 35/2.8, which is outstanding, but I need a wider field of view for landscapes.

Today I got the Zeiss Biogon 28/2.8 ZM. It is larger and heavier than expected, but the intrusion into the viewfinder window is negligible. When mounted on the M8, the extra weight is hardly noticeable. It is the silver version because I got a better deal on the silver than the black.The fit and finish is excellent. I'll post some photos soon.

I just received a Canon 28mm f 2.8 today.  I will be trying it out to see what I got.  The lens itself is a good one and came to me in good shape.  I want to see how it does on color and detail.  This is the "legacy" lens with the LTM screw mount.
