There is very little that is new in the article. It is basically about the lens department and the long time traditions of the company. What is significant is that it is in the Financial Times. We all know that Blackstone are an investor in Leica and that they may want to 'move on' sometime soon. Dr Kaufmann would have no problem finding another investor, but he would want the independence and the traditions of the company maintained. There may be a degree of 'signalling' to that effect in this article. That is what I make of it.
