I own this Summilux V2 pre ASPH (Made in Germany version) for more than 30 years and I never cared about lens coatings and materials, I simply made photos under low light conditions. In the past with film Ms, now with an M10-D and this little lens still delivers good results.

And, important for me, is the small size of the Summilux, it is the smallest rigid Leica lens, even smaller than the Elmarit 2.8/28 ASPH.

Almost... a couple of others are even smaller: M 35/2, 40/2, 40/2.8 ; LTM 35/3.5, etc. It is the smaller 35/1.4 lens ever made though... i guess

I have heard of several with a similar relationship to the Summilux pre-ASPH. 😉

I am glad I have tried the Summicron v4 and have nothing bad to say about that lens. But the Summilux is my new love now. 😍
