mantelknopf Posted March 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! Thorsten Overgaard offers presets for the M9 on his page. Does anyone have any experiences with this offer? Is it valuable? Presets for me usually tend to be a disappointment. However I like trying them and would be willing to invest the price. antigallican Posted March 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2018 I have his presets for the Q and don’t like them, but I do think it’s very much a personal choice.
Ko.Fe. Posted March 13, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 13, 2018 Maybe look at his pictures to find out if presets might be valuable?

Ko.Fe. Posted March 13, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 13, 2018 @ Ko.Fe. How can you know he used his own presets? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk People are experimenting with settings, finding which combination they do like and which works and saving it as preset. This and another and another one... I have presets like these in use for my pictures I show publically. And I don't think it is good idea to sell presets not tested on general public this way. Raid Amin Posted March 15, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 15, 2018 I would enjoy trying out my own settings. With time and after many images, I will know what works best for me.
erl Posted March 15, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not a great fan of presets. No sooner do I set them up to use and then the scenario changes! Usually I can miss the next shot while I 'un' preset my camera. I'm an addict of first of all global correction in post, then follow up with individual correction to my taste. So much of what I shoot varies dramatically from moment to moment that presets, IMO, are useless. The extra time it takes me to individualize each image is good mental editing of my shooting for later analysis.
Paul J Posted March 15, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 15, 2018 Forget presets. Work out how you like things and find your own style.
Topsy Posted March 15, 2018 Share #9 Posted March 15, 2018 @ Ko.Fe. How can you know he used his own presets? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Why wouldn't he? Keep in mind he now uses 2 M10s so if you want to check his pictures you need to go back a while.

The presets on offer are for processing in Lightroom nothing to do with the camera settings. I don't use Lightroom but Capture One has a number available many for free trial, I find them interesting to see the adjustments they make in the program as a learning tool
chris_livsey Posted March 17, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) Why wouldn't he? Keep in mind he now uses 2 M10s so if you want to check his pictures you need to go back a while. He offers M10 Lightroom presets as well, I assume he is looking for a similar "look" as he has a "style" of B/W he prefers regardless of camera, not a publicist for him here BTW just trying to keep the record straight, never bought from him but I enjoy short doses of his videos much as I enjoy short doses of Ken Rockwell, photography is blessed with characters to entertain us, and occasionally educate. tobey bilek Posted March 28, 2018 Share #12 Posted March 28, 2018 Forget `em. Make your own and load into LR or PS. Actually into a special folder like actions are supposed to be so you need not redo after each update or version change. Your back up system will remember them just in case. Put into camera? Never. I only use JPEG for massive projects and I carefully WB and make no further changes.
